Tryouts for the 2008-2009 Memorial University cheerleading team will be held on Sunday, June 29, 6-8:45pm (second tryout date will be posted soon).
(Those trying out must attend both tryouts)
Tryout 1 (Conditioning Tryout):
Date: Sunday, June 29, 2008
Time: 6:00-8:45pm
Location: We will meet in the University Center (student center) food court. The tryout will end in the MUN campus Field House.
Please note that when we enter the Field House each athlete will have to purchase an armband. You will need to bring $2 to do so.
Please be sure to bring indoor as well as outdoor clothing to tryouts :)
If you plan on attending tryouts, please contact us at muncheerleading@tdhost.com so we can gather appropriate information from you before the fist tryout date.
Previous cheerleading and gymnastic experience are an asset but not a requirement. Remember, some of the best cheerleaders start cheering in university with no previous experience. We do require that you have a great attitude, a willingness to learn, and excellent overall athletic ability. You must be able to be a productive team member, and you must take instruction well. Of course, being comfortable performing in front of a crowd is also a must.
Team members must be able to balance both academic and cheerleading requirements. Therefore, we require academically strong students whose commitment to the team will not affect their academic performance.
As coaches, the high school you attended is not important to us. What is important is that you are at Memorial now and we want to see what you can contribute to our team.
How many spots are available? All spots are open.
Those trying out are also required to be full time students (at least 3 courses) at Memorial as of September 2008.
Please be sure to bring proper attire (shorts, t-shirt, sneakers). Sneakers worn outside cannot be worn in the court. All belongings must be kept in the locker rooms at the Field House. They cannot be brought to the court. There are lots of lockers available - please do not forget your own lock.
